Update 9/4/2015 @ 8:00 am-- The NWS COOP Weather Station in East Tawas reports that August had 47% (+1.62") above average precipitation and 1% (-0.7°) below average temperatures. Annual precipitation is running at about 8% (-1.62") below average and the temperature has been 7% (-3.2°) below average. Monthly precipitation for the Lake Huron-Michigan Basin for August was 5% (+.18") above average. NOAA Coastwatch reports that the average surface temperature for Lake Huron is at 67.6°F which is the 2.2° warmer than last year and the 0.7° warmer than the long-term average. The water temperature at the buoy located 43NM east of Oscoda is 68.5° and the wave height is 0.7 ft. The water temperature at the buoy located 3NM off Pt. AuGres is at 68.4° and the wave height is 1.0 ft. The East Tawas State Dock will be closing for the season September 27- Click here for schedule of hours.
