Update
5/19/2013 @ 9:30 am- The
East Tawas State Dock is
open
for the season. The
Tawas Point Birding Festival ends today. The
NWS COOP Weather Station in East Tawas reports that so far the month
of May has had 3% (1.8°) above average temperatures and 13%
(.22") below average precipitation. Year-to-date precipitation
is 41% (+4.10") above the long-term average.
The
marine forecast for the open waters of Lake Huron beyond 5 nautical
miles offshore calls for southeast winds 5 to 10 knots with wave heights of
1 to 3 feet. The nearshore water temperature in Tawas Bay is
currently 66°F. At 8:50 am, the water temperature at the NOAA
Lake Huron weather buoy
located 43 nautical miles east of Oscoda was 40.5°F and the
wave height was 0.3 feet. Mars by the Bay at the foot of the State Dock is open for the
season and has minnows and other live bait.
