Update 1/19/2017 @ 11:00 am-- The NWS COOP Weather Station in East Tawas reports that through January 19, monthly precipitation has been 28% (+.35") above average and the temperature has been 4% (+0.9°) above average. Snowfall for the winter season has been 22.8" compared to an average to date of 23.1". The current snow depth is a trace. Monthly precipitation for the Lake Huron-Michigan Basin through January 16, is at 42% (+.51") above average. NOAA Coastwatch reports that the average surface temperature for Lake Huron is at 36.9°F compared to 36.7° last year and compared to the long-term average of 36.9°. Ice cover on Lake Huron is at 13.33%, compared to 17.51% last year.
