Update 2/4/2012 @ 9:00 am- The
National Weather Service
East Tawas COOP Station reports a snow depth in town of 0
inches and there is no significant snow in the forecast for at
least the next week. Snowfall this season has been about 48% of the long-term average. January
ended with approximately 25% above
average temperatures and 25% below average
precipitation. February so far is continuing the trend of this
winter, with above average temperatures and below average
precipitation. The
marine forecast for the open waters of Lake Huron calls for
west winds at 5 to 10 knots becoming southwest 10 to 15 knots with wave heights in ice free areas around
1 to 4 feet. The 62nd annual
Perchville USA festival runs through Sunday, with 3 polar
bear swims, a fishing contest and other events scheduled.
