Forecast
is always pointed in the direction that
the wind is coming from. The magnitude of the wind on a
wind barb is calculated using the attached flags at the
end of the wind barb. A long wind flag is 10 knots, a
short wind flag is 5 knots, and a triangle wind flag is 50
knots. So, if you see a wind barb with two long flags and
one short flag on it, the forecast wind speed would be
25 knots. The wind barb above indicates a wind from the
Northwest at 15 knots.
